The brooding lyrics and pounding drums made me feel like I was one of the angsty preteens they talk about on TV. However, Paramore has now retired to the depths of my emo punk iTunes playlist.
You are one. Tell that to your record label. The mainstream? Radio Disney plays your music. Their logic is if they wear enough eyeliner and dye part of their hair a neon color, the youths will associate them with edginess and flock to their rebel camp. Hayley especially is spectacular live. She always gives it her all for each performance, and also takes the time out to interact with the fans in the audience.
Okay, this is more to do with Hayley herself to an extent, but part of the reason why Paramore stand out so much as a band is because of her awesome hair. Over the years, she has been known for her vibrant, bright locks. The company notably sells products to dye your hair in a multitude of colours.
Paramore as a band have been so vocal about the mental health struggles that they have faced — particularly Hayley. Hayley spoke in interviews about how her experiences with mental health inspired a lot of the lyrics written for the album.

With rock music historically being linked to Satanism and devil worship, having a rock band that had Christian values allowed some young Black people to connect. I wanted to be part of something.
I liked so much stuff from all genres, so liking Paramore made me give less of a shit about boxes. Alegria feels that their prominence on the soundtrack of cinematic masterpiece, Twilight , marked a particular turning point for the band along with their Black audience. Tribalism really started to disintegrate.
