Don't waste your money! I would be more sympathetic if the BMW brand was similar in price. I hate that they think they're entitled to more money because they took the same substance and printed their own little label to sell the shyte.

But I guess that's capitalism for you, and I'm one of the sheep. Originally Posted by sockethead. Originally Posted by domino23p. I dunno about re-using old fluid.

Unless it's fairly new, like only a few months in, I wouldn't bother re-using old fluids of any kind. Why not just use new fluids for peace of mind.

It's not just BMW that markets their own fluids, etc. Walk into any Ford or GM dealer and you'll see the same thing I have been using Prestone extended life for over a year with no problems.

I highly doubt BMW manufactures their own antifreeze. I have heard this said before and i quote ''i dont think bmw has some special plant in the german mountains where they manufacture their own antifreeze for their relatively unreliable cooling systems''.

Buildup in the engine block cooling channels can make it difficult for coolant to travel. This can cause excessive heat, resulting in oil becoming too hot and thin and potentially damaging the whole system. Cooling System Hoses. Buildup in the cooling hoses can cause major problems such as slowing coolant flow, reducing cooling and even clogs in the system from loose corrosion.
